MPF Federal Public Ministry of Brazil

MPF or Federal Public Ministry is an Important Federal public institution for the Brazilian Government, is an important institution that operates all over the national territory. Been Brazil the 5th largest country and the 9th largest economy in the world.

The MPF acts as an inspector of the law, but also acts in the civil, criminal and electoral areas. In the electoral area, the MPF acts before the Federal Supreme Court, the Superior Court of Justice, the Superior Electoral Court, the federal regional courts, federal judges and electoral judges, in cases regulated by the Constitution and federal laws.

MPF has units in all Brazilian 26 states spread in more than 200 cities, from crowded metropolis to remote areas in the Amazon, geographically distributed across a country with a continental size.

“Our priority is to provide an efficient service to our nation, an institution with more than 14,000 members, needs and agile and effective way to be connected and guarantee that it is always working properly” said Darlan Airton Dias, Attorney of the Republic and Secretary of Information and Communication Technology. “We needed a single communications solution to bridge the gap between locations and organizations, Zoom enable us to do it seamlessly”

The New operational “rule” for efficiency

“2 years ago, everything was conducted in-person, with a few exceptions to the “rule”. Face to face meetings, hearings, trainings, costly transportations, constant delays due to logistics or personal impediments. Thank you to Zoom’s technology, suddenly, the tables were turned; the virtual meetings became the rule, and the on-site meeting became the exception” said Darlan Airton Dias.

“The implementation and adoption of the technology was extraordinary, fast and intuitive, All 14,000 members already uses some of the Zoom products and services like Zoom Meeting, Zoom Webinars, Zoom Chat and Zoom Phone. From internal meetings to public hearings, broadcasting with YouTube, internal and public educational programs or virtual trials, the events and uses we are implementing nowadays was unimaginable just 2 years ago”

How to leapfrog efficiency and security

As a public institution our duty is to serve with effective and efficient processes. Becoming an agile, hybrid organization provided a leapfrog on both aspects.

“The solution that we had was too basic and it barely worked with our infrastructure, so we decided to replace all the legacy hardware to Zoom’s cloud base products and services,” he said, “and we now have just one platform to support. The adoption rate was extraordinary, even replacing the old phones with Zoom Phone, we thought there would be a lot of resistance to move into a new technology. But the user-friendly interface and the quick deployment were key factors”

“We are aware of the safety requirements that the public ministries have regarding sensible and confidential data, as you can imagine, safety is extremely important to us. We evaluated other Competitors, and we tried different tools; Zoom was chosen because it met all our needs, and it was the least expensive option” said Darlan Airton Dias. “Now, we have over 14.000 individuals in our organization using Zoom…for virtual meetings, conferences, or virtual trials from courts all over the country.”

True inclusive hybrid work environment

“Zoom was the key enabler to leverage process and communication capabilities. We didn’t have an integrated calling mechanism for all locations and states, with Zoom we got from big states to remote municipalities with the same capabilities almost instantly because it helped to integrate and deploy everything much easier.” said Carine Rebouças, Chief of the Videoconference and Digital Certification Division of the MPF “In most cases traditional calls were replaced by Zoom Meetings, not only because is efficient and easy to add participates, but because is what we like the most now, with the same capabilities and efficient tools we had established a new hybrid workflow for all our locations with half of our staff is working from home, while the rest is at the office.

“We were impressed how Zoom manages customer’s opinions. If we requested something, sooner than later we may see an update and it was like “Wow, they update it”, and that makes you feel a bit special.” said Carine Rebouças. “No matter what, the company takes customer ́s opinions very seriously”.
