FCC Laws for U.S. based users

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), adopted a Report and Order that created E911 regulations for all businesses to more accurately locate 911 callers. The new deadline that applies to cloud services like Zoom Phone is fast approaching

As of Jan. 6, 2022, all businesses must comply with the new rules outlined in the order.

The Report and Order specifies rules for both Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act.

To ensure that accurate locations are provided when someone calls 911, phone systems must provide the “dispatchable location” of the 911 caller to the emergency dispatcher or Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP).
