Zoom Phone Notice of Calling / Messaging Limitations for International Destinations

Effective October 2024

Carriers and regulators in many destinations have spam/fraud monitoring requirements on certain call types or traffic patterns. Calls may be blocked by underlying or connecting carriers or regulators if the calls meet the criteria employed in these destinations. This limitation is universal for all international telecommunications traffic (it is not unique to Zoom Phone). Zoom has no control or influence over spam/fraud monitoring and blocking measures that are employed by these entities.

Update September 2023 – International Calling limitations for China

China has implemented measures to reduce telecommunications spam and fraud, resulting in international calls to China (+86) being blocked based on certain call behaviors, including the following (as identified by the telecom industry):
unsolicited marketing calls.
short duration calls (under 3 min).
high volume of repeated calls.
high volume of unanswered or canceled calls.
calls from telephone numbers that have been flagged by other telecom carriers.

Update as of October 2024

In order to combat text messaging fraud, Chinese Mobile Operators have also implemented blocks for text messaging traffic that originates outside of China. Consequently, international text messages sent from Zoom Phone US/CA Phone numbers are unlikely to be delivered to wireless subscribers in China.

The blocking of this international SMS traffic varies by Province. In order to receive messages from international numbers, the end subscriber will usually need to work with their local, in-country wireless operator to allow for message delivery.
