Introducing Zoom Node: a platform designed for hybrid deployment

Zoom Node is a central hub for hosting Zoom workloads — or modules — that provide Zoom functionalities, such as meetings or calling. It’s optimized to help address customer requirements in the areas of compliance, security, survivability and bandwidth optimization. Zoom Node and the service modules it supports are deployed on premises but managed from the Zoom cloud, effectively extending Zoom cloud functionality to customer data centers.

    Zoom Node’s structure allows users to tailor their hybrid strategy according to their organization’s unique needs — adding on nodes and modules as required.The current Zoom Node has capacity for up to four modules.

Zoom Node modules

Service modules are service-specific Zoom workloads such as Zoom Meeting or Zoom Team Chat, that run on Zoom Node locally. These service modules are managed through the Zoom Web portal. Each Zoom Node is capable of supporting up to four service modules.

Zoom Phone Local Survivability

The Zoom Phone Local Survivability (ZPLS) module allows organizations to maintain certain Zoom Phone services within the organization even if internet connectivity is lost.

The Zoom Phone Local Survivability module capacity limits are as follows (dependent on hardware configuration):

  • Internal Extension Dialing

  • Contact Search/Dialing 

  • Dial From Call History

  • Hold/Resume Call

  • DTMF

  • Blind/Consult Transfer

  • Ad hoc 3-Party Conference

  • Full Extension dialing with Site Code

  • Inbound/Outbound PSTN calling support (requires SBC)

  • Call Park
