GapoWork Leverages Zoom to Scale Quickly and Accelerate Productivity in Hybrid Work
When Gapo wanted to add online meeting features to its GapoWork product, it found the perfect partner in Zoom.
Challenges: As businesses turned to remote work during the pandemic, Gapo needed to add online meeting features to its working and communication platform GapoWork quickly or risk losing its customers.
Solution: Zoom Developer Platform, Zoom API, Zoom Meeting SDK
Benefits: Ease of integration and faster time-to-market; one-touch access with user-friendly interface; supports multiple platforms and functions such as messaging, screen sharing, and video recording.

By providing a comprehensive set of tools to support communication and team connection, GapoWork helps businesses optimize personnel performance, increase revenue, reduce costs and optimize operations. Ha Trung KienCEO and Co-Founder, Gapo; and Deputy Director-General, G-Group Technology
Gapo is a subsidiary of G-Group Technology Corporation (G-Group), a leading Vietnamese technology company that owns 11 member companies and employs more than 1,000 people across the country.
When the pandemic struck, G-Group witnessed a significant drop in productivity, as staff absenteeism rose and employee communication became problematic. G-Group purchased an internal communication tool costing billions of Vietnamese dong per year.
G-Group needed a more cost-effective solution. The company turned to its subsidiary, Gapo, for help in developing an internal networking platform for businesses. Thanks to Gapo’s technical know-how in social networking platforms, GapoWork, a “work version” of the Gapo app was born.
Supporting Vietnam’s economy
By 2021, Vietnam’s economy was at risk of being crushed by the pandemic. Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication called on local digital technology companies to provide solutions to save the economy.
“We had to speed up the launch of the GapoWork internal communication platform to the businesses in Vietnam,” recalled Ha. “The project was expected to be completed in five months, but we had to work hard to shorten it to only two months due to the urgent situation.”
GapoWork was quickly adopted by enterprise customers. As more businesses began adopting remote work, the need to add additional features emerged.
“As soon as the pandemic became stressful, we noticed that companies had difficulties organizing online meetings and operating remotely,” recalled Ha. “We had to develop a high-quality online group meeting feature for our product, so we immediately contacted Zoom.”
The company was impressed with Zoom’s user-friendly interface, and its ability to support multiple platforms and functions such as messaging, screen sharing, and video recording. More importantly, Zoom’s APIs could be easily integrated with GapoWork’s system to help GapoWork’s platform scale, acquire more customers, and expand its market share.
Impressive numbers with Zoom
The entire process – from planning to launch – of the new Zoom feature took three months, but the integration itself was much shorter.
“It took us just two or three weeks to integrate the technology for our users. Since everything was documented in detail, the integration process was very convenient for our technical team,” he added.
A GapoWork user can now create Zoom meetings with just one touch. There is no need to download a separate app, register a new account, or share meeting links.
Within four months of the launch, GapoWork users had clocked 1.6 billion call minutes on Zoom.
“Zoom brings many benefits to businesses. In addition to providing maximum support in organizing online meetings, Zoom also helps to improve work performance, promote internal communication, and support corporate culture,” Ha said.
In just six months, GapoWork facilitated the digital transformation of more than 500 businesses in Vietnam, including:
- Hoa Sen Viet Group, a major fashion and cosmetic retailer in Vietnam used GapoWork to coordinate operations across its network of more than 120 retail stores nationwide.
- Financial services group F88 strengthened its corporate culture by maintaining strong ties with 2,500 employees spread across 500 offices.
- EDUFIT Education Group turned remote working into an opportunity to develop and build a more creative corporate culture with GapoWork.
Connecting Vietnam: From enterprises to educators
GapoWork’s reach did not end with organizations and businesses. Ha shared that the platform also played an important role in Vietnam’s educational system during the pandemic.
“As soon as Zoom was integrated into GapoWork, the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam became so stressful that schools had to deploy online teaching. Both teachers and students were facing many difficulties. We sponsored GapoWork accounts integrated with Zoom to provide quick and effective online teaching tools to all the schools in our country,” said Ha. “We’re very proud that our product was able to help connect people during the pandemic.”
“We hope to continue working with Zoom to develop GapoWork. I believe that the strategic cooperation between Zoom and GapoWork will be an essential factor to help Gapo get closer to the international market soon,” Ha said.
