European Tour and Zoom: Building Unique Experiences for Global Fans

The European Tour leverages Zoom to help streamline operations for 100 golf tournaments a year while offering new ways to engage fans.

The partnership with Zoom has been incredibly well received by players and fans because it’s a new-generation organisation, and we certainly have bold and courageous visions. And I know the partnership with Zoom will help achieve that.

The European Tour relies on Zoom to connect their teams, streamline operations, and innovate how they connect with their global audiences.

“Golf is complicated. Our business is complicated. And technology has to address that challenge or that opportunity. The partnership with Zoom certainly helps us to do that,” said Michael Cole, the European Tour’s Chief Technology Officer.

The UK-based organisation oversees 100 golf tournaments a year across 40 countries and leverages video technology to not only improve agility but provide unique experiences for fans, players, and their families.

With Zoom:

  • Media who can’t travel can interview players after a round in the Zoom Media Centre
  • The tour designs innovative guest experiences and spectator engagements via the Zoom Virtual Clubhouse
  • Players give virtual golf lessons and even connect with their children at home to help with schoolwork
  • Tour players can connect and create fun social media content

The European Tour also leverages Zoom for virtual interviews with players’ families to capture the moments after they’ve won a tournament.

“The partnership with Zoom has been incredibly well received by players and fans because it’s a new-generation organisation, and we certainly have bold and courageous visions,” Cole said. “And I know the partnership with Zoom will help achieve that.”
